Committees

ACCREDITATION COMMITTEE

            This committee serves to assist centers/schools seeking accreditation from NAEYC, as well as to give recognition to recently validated centers/schools in the BPAEYC Newsletter, at appropriate BPAEYC-sponsored venues and at the NJAEYC Annual Conference. It is recommended that members of this committee represent centers/schools which have already been accredited by NAEYC or serve as NAEYC validators.


DIRECTOR’S GROUP

            This committee serves as a meeting ground for directors/administrators to learn and share ideas, policies and/or procedures which will help in the running of programs. Hopefully this networking opportunity will result in quality programs helping others to achieve a higher standard of quality.


FINANCE COMMITTEE

            This committee works with the Treasurer to set up and maintain an annual budget, works on nonprofit status, conducts an annual audit, and addresses any financial concerns.


HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

            This committee meets and greets members and guests at meetings and workshops, and may assist with refreshments as needed.


LITERATURE AND PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE

           This committee selects, purchases and distributes children’s books to members at meetings and events. It also selects various NAEYC publications for display to members at events. Members of this committee may sell books and other materials provided by speakers at events.


MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

            This committee works with the Vice-President of Membership to assist prospective members with the NAEYC on-line membership system, and follows up by personally welcoming new members to the Association.


NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE

            This committee prepares the BPAEYC newsletter for mailing. It is responsible for printing, collating, postage and maioling to BPAEYC members and NJAEYC State and local affiliate presidents.


NOMINATING COMMITTEE

            This committee recruits a slate of officers from the membership to serve set terms of office. Committee members need to be familiar with the qualifications for each office as outlined in the BPAEYC Member Handbook. It is recommended that the Past-president serve as Nominating Committee Chair whenever possible.


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

            This committee assists in the planning and execution of conferences, workshops and seminars.


PUBLIC POLICY COMMITTEE

            This committee keeps abreast of impending legislation that impacts early care and education and informs the executive committee and the membership to encourage informed votes. It also provides information about and assistance in the registration for NAEYC’s Children’s Champions.


PUBLICITY /HISTORIAN COMMITTEE

            This committee is responsible for the release of articles and/or photographs that promote a positive image of BPAEYC to the public. It also keeps a photographic record of events.


STUDENT CLUSTER COMMITTEE

            This committee promotes interest and membership to future leaders in the field of early childhood education at colleges and universities in Bergen and Passaic counties. They include but are not limited to Bergen Community College, Felician College, Passaic County Community College, Ramapo College and William Paterson University.

            This committee can assist the web mistress by collecting and/or preparing information to be posted on the Association’s website bpaeyc.org.


WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD COMMITTEE

            This committee gathers information on how the Week/Month of the Young Child is being celebrated in Bergen and Passaic counties for publication in the Association newsletter. It may also assist in activities undertaken by BPAEYC to support events sponsored by other organizations.
